Voice Dialogue, Inner Parts and Personal Growth
Voice Dialogue is a method, developed by psychologists Hal Stone and Sidra Stone, for getting to know the different "selves" that make up a personality — the pusher, the pleaser, the critic, the protector and their quieter opposites — and for developing an Aware Ego that can choose between them rather than being run by one.11 The Stones' own organisation, Voice Dialogue International, describes the work as the "Psychology of Selves". See the sources on the Voice Dialogue page.
This website is a small, independent library about that idea and its neighbours: how people experience inner parts, why the same argument keeps returning in a relationship, and when reading stops being enough and professional support makes sense.
About this website
This domain was once the home of a Denver counselling and Voice Dialogue practice. The current publisher is separate from that former practice and does not offer sessions, appointments or training. We kept the name because many people, and several long-standing reference pages, still connect it with Voice Dialogue. A short, sourced note on that history is on the About page.

What is Voice Dialogue? The Psychology of Selves, primary and disowned selves, the Aware Ego, and what a facilitated session conceptually involves.
Inner parts and inner conflict A plain model of "part of me wants to, part of me doesn't", with a non-clinical journal exercise.
Relationship patterns How recurring reactions show up between partners, and what boundaries and communication have to do with it.
Resources Crisis lines, Colorado support services and the original method sources.
Emotional awareness, not a cure
Naming the voices in your head can make reactions easier to notice. It is not a treatment for depression, trauma, anxiety disorders or any other condition, and the research base for Voice Dialogue specifically is small (we explain what is and isn't known on each page). If you are struggling, a licensed clinician is the right next step; in a crisis in the US, call or text 988.
How we write
Every article lists its sources, carries an update date and states its review status. Our clinical review is pending: no article here has yet been reviewed by a licensed clinician, and we say so on each page until that changes.
